The last Finnish film of the year is a beautiful film directed by Klaus Härö. Tervetuloa!
Letters to Father Jacob (Postia pappi Jaakobille)
Letter’s
to Father Jacob (2009) tells the story of pastor Jacob and a pardoned
convict Leila. Left with few options, Leila agrees to work as a personal
assistant for Jacob, who is blind. Her main duty is to read him letters
where people ask him for help. Answering the letters has become the
most rewarding aspect of Jacob’s life, whereas Leila is not interested
in religious matters and finds the whole business worthless. But then
the letters stop coming, and Leila finds herself cast in an unexpected
role. The film was well received by critics and audiences in Finland and
abroad. 1 h 12 min.
