Finnish Company.
In an announcement to customers, Crate and Barrel posted the following announcement:
Our very special relationship with Marimekko, which spans nearly half a century, began in the early '60s when Crate and Barrel co-founders Gordon and Carol Segal discovered Finnish designer Maija Isola's incredible hand silk-screened Marimekko fabrics at a store in Denmark. Searching for well-designed, useful, quality products to bring back to their customers, Marimekko was an ideal fit. In 1966, Crate and Barrel presented Marimekko fabric collections from Finland for the first time. To this day, a signature of every Crate and Barrel store is the dramatic, suspended sweep of Marimekko textiles radiating bold color and pure joy. The Marimekko Shop at Crate and Barrel is an exciting new opportunity to share our belief that timeless, modern design enhances our everyday lives.
The new Crate and Barrel store Marimekko Shop will open soon at 55 Stockton St in San Francisco!
Their online store already carries Finnish Marimekko kitchenwares, wearables, outdoor, pillows, bed, bath, baby, bags and accessories can now be purchased in local Crate and Barrel stores all over the US!
